A documentary based on the life of President Droupadi Murmu is currently under production, with shooting underway for the past few months in the Mayurbhanj district. According to sources, Prasar Bharati has initiated the project, while renowned banner Aamir Khan Productions has been entrusted with its production.

Rairangpur, once a small and underdeveloped town surrounded by hills and forests, was cut off from the state capital for decades. Even more remote was Uparbeda village, where Murmu was born into a Santali farming family. In those days, electricity was unknown, and kerosene lamps were the only source of light after sunset. Though India had attained Independence, development had yet to reach this region.

Few could have imagined that a girl born in such circumstances would one day become the President of India. Yet, through determination and perseverance, Droupadi Murmu defied all odds. Her journey from Rairangpur to Raisina Hill was marked by numerous challenges and setbacks, which tested her resolve but never broke her spirit.

The documentary captures key locations associated with her life, including her birthplace, Uparbeda, her days as a teacher at Aurobindo School, memories from her in-laws’ home at Pahadpur, and her association with Prajapita Brahma Kumaris. Family members and close associates are also sharing personal insights into her life and personality.

"Uparbeda village has come a long way as the village of the President. The shooting work has been going on for the last year," said Talapokhari Sarpanch Rukmuni Murmu.

"The documentary is based on President Droupadi Murmu's life struggle from Rairangpur to Raisina Hill. It will be kept in the national archives and inspire one and all," said Manoj Das, senior journalist.

Despite suffering personal tragedies, including the loss of her husband and two sons, Murmu continued her journey with remarkable courage. She began her public life as a Councillor in her native region, later served as MLA from Rairangpur, became a Minister, and in 2015, was appointed Governor of Jharkhand, where her initiatives earned national recognition.

Even after assuming office as the President of India, Murmu remains deeply connected to her roots. She interacts freely with people, stays in the village home during visits, and attends public events with humility. During her visits to Puri, she walks barefoot along the 'Bada Danda' to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
