Fresh polls for Ranpur NAC on Mar 5

Bhubaneswar: A fresh notification has been issued for election to Ranpur Notified Area Council (NAC) after it was postponed. As per the fresh notification, the polls will be conducted on May 5 while filing of nominations will be held between April 13 and 18.

Verification of nomination papers will be conducted on April 20 while April 23 has been set as the last date for withdrawal of nomination. Counting will be conducted May 6.

The State Election Commission said a report has been sought from the district collector on postponement of the polls. There were certain irregularities in the seat reservation and appropriate steps will be taken against erring officials, it added.

The polls to Ranpur NAC was scheduled to be held on April 7 and was postponed following Nayagarh district magistrate’s report that reservation status of wards has been published wrongly by the Election Officer.
