The Odisha government’s Subhadra Yojana, one of its flagship welfare initiatives for women, has officially opened for new applications on Saturday.
The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to women across the state, with the application process now live on the dedicated Subhadra portal.
Who Is Eligible To Apply
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced that women between 21 and 60 years of age can apply online to benefit from the scheme.
Women who have already turned 20 or 21 may also begin the application process, though their enrolment will be confirmed only after they reach the age of 21.
The online application facility is available to eligible women throughout Odisha, except in districts where the Model Code of Conduct is currently in effect.
Who Is Not Eligible
The government has introduced strict exclusion norms to ensure that the benefits go to those who genuinely need them.
Women students who are already receiving Rs 18,000 or more per year in the form of scholarships or other assistance from state or central government schemes will not qualify for Subhadra Yojana.
This restriction has been put in place to avoid duplication of financial aid and to ensure equitable distribution of funds. The Women and Child Development Department (WCD) has already begun a detailed verification exercise to identify overlapping beneficiaries.
Verification Process Underway
As part of this verification, the WCD Department has sought comprehensive data from the Higher Education Department and the Department of SC, ST and Minorities. These records will help identify women aged 21 and above who received Rs 18,000 or more in a single financial year — specifically during 2023–24 and 2024–25, excluding arrear payments.
Any student who falls under this category will be excluded from the Subhadra Assistance Programme, in accordance with the government’s updated guidelines.
How to Apply
Eligible applicants can visit the official Subhadra Yojana website to fill out the online form and upload the required documents. Authorities have advised applicants to ensure that their details are correct, as every submission will undergo cross-verification before final approval.
The state government expects the digital application process to make enrolment faster, transparent, and accessible to women across all regions.
