Jajpur: Four contractual workers were injured in the premises of a steel plant at Kalinga Nagar today while cleansing the dust catcher at the unit, official sources said.
All the four sustained burn injuries and three of them were admitted to a local hospital, while another worker was shifted to private medical facility at Cuttack, Deputy Director of Factories and Boilers, K Mohapatra said.
He said an in-depth inquiry would be conducted into the accident.
As per preliminary report, the mishap occurred while the workers were cleansing the dust catcher of the plant, he said adding normally cleansing work of the dust catcher takes place in that part once a month. Normal temperature of the plant dust catcher remains at 70-80 degree celcius.
The workers sustained burn injuries after hot dust from the dust catcher fell on them, he said.
