Kendrapara: Tension ran high at Bharatpur village under Aul police limits in the district today after locals blocked Cuttack-Chandbali Road near Bharatpur Chhak protesting burglaries which took place last night and the subsequent attack on four persons of a family of the village during the loot bid.

As per reports, five robbers barged into the house of one Hadibandhu Sahoo by cutting the door grills when all the family members were sleeping inside the house. Though the family members tried to resist the loot bid, the dacoits allegedly attacked them with sharp weapons injuring four members of the family.

Subsequently, the robbers looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuable items from Hadibandhu’s house and fled the scene. The injured family members on the other hand have been admitted to Aul Community Health Centre (CHC).

After the burglary at Hadibandhu’s house, the five miscreants also sneaked into another villager, Alekh Sahoo’s house and looted unaccounted cash and valuables worth lakhs of rupees from the house.

Demanding immediate arrest of the miscreants involved in the attack and the two loots in the village, the agitating villagers staged a blockade by burning tyres on the road.

Meanwhile, Kendrapara SP Niti Sekhar, Pattamundai ACP, Aul Police Station IIC along with one platoon police force rushed to the spot to pacify the villagers to withdraw the stir.

An investigation is currently underway.
