Four injured in panchayat poll related clash

Jajpur: At least four persons were injured, two of them seriously in a post-panchayat poll clash between two groups at Ambikasahi of Kundapatana village in Routarapur gram panchayat in Rasulpur block of Jajpur district. The incident took place last night when around 15 supporters of a Sarpanch candidate identified as Routarapur Kulamani Sahoo, allegedly attacked on the supporters of his rival Sarpanch candidate Rabindra Kumar Sahoo.

The injured have been identified as Purna Chandra Barik, Biswanath Barik, Nanda Kishore Barik and Kusa Barik. They were first rushed to Community Health Centre at Dharmasala for treatment and later shifted to district head quarter hospital in Jajpur town. An FIR has been lodged at Dharmasala police station in this connection and Police investigation is on as tension prevails in the entire panchayat. Additional police force have been deployed at the troubled panchayat to avoid any untoward incident.

In another post poll violence, three persons were injured when a ward member candidate Nrusingh Sahoo of Fartipur village under Korei block in the district allegedly attacked his rivals yesterday. An FIR has been also been filed in this connection.
