Dhenkanal: Four persons were killed and as many seriously injured when a jeep collided with a truck at Panchupati near here today, police said.

Eight persons were proceeding from Deogarh towards Cuttack in the jeep in the wee hours when the head-on collision occuredn in Dhenkanal Sadar police station area.

The four had been identified as Ambika Mohapatra (60) of Chandol in Kendrapara district, Gita Pradhan (56) of Cuttack, Aparna Bhola (46) and Rabi Mishra, driver of the jeep hailing from Bhograi in Balasore, they said.

Three of the seriously injured were shifted to SCB Medical College Hospital at Cuttack while the other one was being treated at the district headquarters hospital here. The driver of the truck was absconding.
