Sambalpur: Former director of the VIMSAR (Veer Surendra Sai Institute Of Medical Science And Research), Ashwini Pujahari, quit Congress party alleging that misbehaviour was meted out to him during a party review meeting at the District Congress Bhavan on June 26.

In his resignation letter sent to AICC President Rahul Gandhi and District Congress president Ashwini Guru, Pujahari alleged that he was humiliated and one of his supporters was beaten up during the meeting.

“The Congress activists misbehaved with me in the presence of senior leader George Tirkey at the meeting on June 26. I am deeply hurt by the incident and there is no point of being a part of Congress anymore,” said Pujahari.

Asked about his future plans, Pujahari replied, “I will work in a place where there is recognition for me. Only time will tell whether I will be in politics or not.”

In his reaction, Sambalpur District Congress President Ashwini Guru feigned ignorance about Pujahari’s resignation.

“There was a review meeting at the district Congress office on June 26 where Congress activists presented their views in the presence of Ashwini Pujahari. But, when Pujahari asked why the Sambalpur Congress activists did not help him during the recently held elections, they retorted back. I have not received any resignation letter from Pujahari,” said Guru.
Pujahari had joined Congress in March and unsuccessfully contested from Sambalpur Assembly seat during the recently held polls.
