Berhampur: The suicide attempt today by former CEO of Southco, Tapan Mishra, has sent flutters in the Silver City. Tapan Mishra was gravely injured today as he attempted to end his life by running into a transformer and has been shifted to Vishakhapatman for treatment. Tapan alleged that he wanted to finish his life as he was sore over the malafide intensions of some his former colleagues in Southco who conspired against him and created trouble for him.

Early in the morning the news of Tapan`s suicide bid spread like wild fire. Tapan sustained partial burns on his body as he attempted to finish his life by touching the high voltage transformer near his house. He was immediately rushed to the nearby government hospital and later shifted to Vishakhapatnam as his condition became critical.

Tapan alleged that some officials of the Southco conspired against him after his retirement to sully his image and create trouble in his life. The Southco had conducted raids on his farm house for allegedly tampering his meter. Later, on November 29 the Vigilance department sleuths too had conducted raids on his house and farm house for allegedly amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income. However, CEO-in-charge of Southco, Suresh Choudhury has denied the charges levelled by Tapan and said that no one was after the former CEO.  The city police however has lodged a complaint on the basis of allegations made by Tapan Mishra.
