Bhubaneswar: Nearly a week after being dismissed from Congress, ex-Koraput MLA Krushna Chandra Sagaria today announced that he would join the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). In an interview to OTV, Sagaria informed about his plans.

Sagaria expressed his disappointment over the fact that AICC president, Rahul Gandhi did not utter a single word regarding the welfare of backward classes during his visit to Odisha today. He alleged that the Congress only knows to rule on the votes of tribals while doing nothing for their development.

Citing failure to provide justice to Kunduli gang rape victim, Sagaria had quit from the post of legislator on November 6, 2018. He had then stirred the hornet's nest by alleging a secret deal between Congress and the BJD. During OTV’s ‘Khola Katha’ programme, Sagaria had alleged that when the entire Congress was fighting for the Kunduli girl, who was gang raped and later committed suicide, the leader of the Opposition Narasingha Mishra stayed away and maintained his distance.

Congress had dismissed Sagaria from the party on disciplinary grounds on January 19, 2019. Along with Sagaria, former union minister Srikant Jena was also dismissed.
