Cuttack: Properties worth over lakhs of rupees are reported to be gutted in a footwear showroom located at Dolamundai here in the city today. It happened at about 5 am in the morning, when locals saw columns of smoke coming out from the three-storey building of Shreeleather showroom.
At least four fire tenders and over 30 firemen took more than four hours to get control over the inferno which caused massive damage to the building. Fire officials could not ascertain the exact cause of the mishap but said electric short-circuits could be the reason. The city had witnessed a similar mishap last week when another multistoried building housing a furniture showroom in its ground floor at Station Bazar had caught fire.
