Jharsuguda: Good news for domestic flyers from Odisha as soon two more flight services will be rolled out from Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda.

Informing about the development after chairing a meeting of the Regional Air Connectivity in Bhubaneswar, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said, "Jharsuguda Airport has five flight services at present. Two more flights will be introduced during winter schedule, one to Bangalore and another to Kolkata."

Tripathy also informed that tender work of around Rs 55 crore for development of airstrip at Jeypore airport will be undertaken and land acquisition process for this is underway. The decision regarding the construction of terminal building, runways and taxi-ways in the airport was also taken during the meeting.

Apart from this, Tripathy also discussed with Kalahandi collector about land acquisition for Utkela Airport in Bhawanipatna and also construction work at Rourkela Airport.

“The length of the runway of Rourkela airport is 3, 000 feet in length but it seems there is a need to increase the width of the runway.”
