Dhenkanal: Five people were killed and four others critically injured when a train rammed into a vehicle at an unmanned railway crossing at Dhalapur in Dhenkanal district on Wednesday.

The mishap took place near Dhalpur area when the vehicle was hit while trying to cross the railway track at an unmanned level crossing by Sambalpur-Puri Inter-City express, sources said.

The injured persons have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital here.

Following the incident hundreds of passengers were left stranded in the scorching heat.

Motonga police officials have reached the spot and took control of the situation.
