Bhubaneswar: Five girl Maoists, alarmed by the death of women rebels during the recent encounters at Raighati in Kalinganagar and at Telkoi, surrendered before DIG (Western Range) Yeshwant Singh Jethwa in Keonjhar. The ultras between an age group of 12 to 15 have been identified as the cadres of Kalinganagar Division, official sources revealed.

As per reports, the minor rebels laid down their arms before the DIG as the deaths of their counterparts pressed the panic button in their young and tender minds.

“We were panicked by the recent deaths of other women Maoists during encounters with security personnel. Hence, we decided to give in and return to our families,” a girl ultra said.

Moreover, the ultras also wanted to return to the mainstream of life and society.

However, DIG Jethwa made an appeal to the other women Maoists to give up violence and join the mainstream of life.

“It’s a step that should be welcomed but I appeal others to leave the path of violence and return to their families,” DIG Jethwa said.
