Paradip: Six fishermen had a close shave as their trawler capsized after hitting the half-sunk cargo ship, Black Rose in Paradip. As per reports, the fishermen were returning from the sea when their boat hit Black Rose owing to poor visibility due to fog.

“We had ventured into the sea yesterday and while returning our trawler hit the vessel. Following the collision, our boat started to sink and we jumped into the sea to save our lives. Later, another boat rescued us,” said fisherman Kanhu Dutta.

As per reports, most of the fishermen hail from Chandbali area in Bhadrak district.

“We urge authorities to install proper signals so that such mishaps could be averted in deep sea,” Dutta added.

It is pertinent to mention here that the iron-ore laden cargo ship, Black Rose had sunk at Paradip anchorage zone on September 9, 2009.
