The first spell of winter arrived in Binika of Sonepur district in Odisha, blanketing the region in dense fog on Friday.
Roads and open spaces were covered in a thick layer of mist since early morning, reducing visibility and slowing down vehicle movement.
As the chill sets in, residents began taking morning walks to stay fit. Tea stalls across Binika witnessed increased crowds, with people gathering to enjoy hot beverages in the cold weather.
“We are experiencing winter in Binika for the first time today. It feels pleasant. We exercise every day, but today the fog is so thick that it’s hard to see even a short distance ahead,” said a local resident.
Traffic Moves Slowly Amid Safety Concerns
As per reports, due to the reduced visibility, vehicles are moving cautiously with their headlights and taillights on.
Locals expressed concern that the dense fog could lead to accidents if drivers are not careful. As a precaution, motorists are reportedly maintaining low speeds while travelling through the fog-covered routes.
