Bhubaneswar: Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd (NINL), the only public sector company located at Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex in Odishas Jajpur district, despatched the first consignment of steel billets.
In the first lot, 43.30 tonnes of billets were despatched to Concast Steel & Power Ltd at Badmal in Jharsuguda district yesterday, a company release said.
NINL has produced 3000 tonnes of billets so far, out of which 1066 tonnes have been tendered for sale. Billets are used for the manufacture of all 'long' steel products such as bars, rods, pipes, tubes and wire products, it said.
Many leading steel players including SAIL have shown interest in NINL billets.
With the commissioning of Steel Melting Shop (SMS) on May 31, this year and subsequent production of billets, NINL has been included in the elite club of integrated steel plants across the country, it said.
NINL Managing Director, P K Mishra flagged off the vehicle carrying the steel billets.
