Bhubaneswar: Miscreants in the wee hours of Tuesday night fired bullets at an ashram inmate in Abhiram Paramhansa’s Shanti Anandashram at Karmala in Puri disctrict.
According to sources, some unidentified miscreants opened fire on a sadhu in the ashram.
At around 3.a.m. on Tuesday night, bullets were fired through the window of an ashram room in which a sadhu Gopal Charan Das, was residing. Das sustained bullet injuries as miscreants fired at him, police said today.
Das, 65, was first rushed to the district headquarters hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack. His condition is stated to be stable.
The incident took place last night when Das was taking rest at his hut in the ashram premises, Puri Sadar Police station officer Madhab Chandra Sahu said.
