Fire stunt goes wrong, Class 9 student severely burnt in Odisha

A Class 9 student from Balukeshwar Government High School in Khajuria, under Brahmagiri block of Puri district, sustained serious burn injuries while attempting a dangerous stunt involving fire and petrol.

While the exact reason for the stunt was not known immediately, sources alleged the boys were reportedly making reels when the tragic incident happened.

According to sources, the student was reportedly trying to perform a fire-based stunt using petrol, possibly to mimic content seen online or on social media. However, the stunt went horribly wrong when the petrol accidentally caught fire, engulfing the student in flames.

Eyewitnesses at the school campus rushed to the student’s aid and immediately alerted the authorities. The injured student was first given preliminary aid and then shifted to Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where his condition remains critical.

Doctors at the hospital have confirmed that the boy has sustained severe burns and is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. His condition is being closely monitored.

The incident has raised serious concerns among parents, teachers, and child safety advocates, especially regarding unsupervised activities and the influence of dangerous trends on impressionable youth.

School authorities have urged students to refrain from attempting any kind of risky stunts, while locals have called for increased awareness and guidance to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
