Fire breaks out at Rajendra University in Bolangir

Bolangir: A major fire broke out in the administrative building of Rajendra University in Bolangir today morning. As per sources, a group of lecturers were checking Plus 2 answer sheets when the building was caught in flames. After getting information, Fire Services personnel reached the spot and rescued 10 lecturers who were stranded in the building.

Later, the fire fighters brought the blaze completely under control. It is being suspected that a short circuit could have led to the mishap.

“Around 11AM we got to know about the fire and subsequently fled the building along with the documents and answer sheets. Yet about 10 staff members were trapped inside. Later, firemen rescued them from the room. No one has been injured in the incident,” informed a lecturer.

Earlier in March, Odisha government had accorded university status to Rajendra Autonomous College.
