Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Wednesday asked the department of cooperation to distribute crop insurance amount among the flood and drought-hit farmers within seven days, official sources said.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik passed on the information after the state government received Rs 110 crore from the concerned insurance company here.

"The money will be transferred to farmers` respective bank accounts through the Electronics Transfer System," an official said.

A total of 5,71,682 farmers affected by last year`s flood and drought, would be benefited from the National Agricultural Insurance Scheme.
"Altogether Rs 657.32 crore will be distributed among the affected farmers in the state," they said adding that the state government had already contributed its share in the scheme.
