Bhubaneswar: Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram today promised to waive off loan for debt ridden farmers after BJP comes to power in the state next year.

Sounding confident of the party's victory in the 2019 polls, Oram during a meeting of BJP Kishan Morcha here stated, "Our party is going to come to power next year and soon after we will waive off loans for all farmers. We will have this in our election manifesto."

On the other hand, BJD accused the BJP government of giving false assurance.

"In 2014, BJP government had promised to give special category state (SCS) status to Odisha. But soon after assuming power, they took a U-turn saying Odisha doesn't need such a status. They are going to repeat the same in 2019," BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said.

Meanwhile, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan targeted the State government for not doing anything after the Centre decided to increase the MSP (Minimum Support Price). Pradhan alleged that the State government is criticising the Modi government to hide its own inability.
