Puri: The Jaya idol in Puri Srimandir damaged by the extremely severe cyclone Fani will be constructed again, informed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today during his visit to the 12th century shrine to take stock of the damages.

"I came to see the damage done to Shree Jagannath mandir in Puri. The officials of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) have assured me that the repair work will completed by June 17," said Patnaik

The world famous Jagannath Temple in Puri has witnessed extensive damages in Cyclone Fani. The idol of Lord Jaya was damaged due to heavy wind and rainfall during the cyclone. Besides, lion idols on south and west side of temple also suffered damages in the cyclone.

The Sakhigopal and Baraha temples on the premises of the 12th century shrine were also damaged by the strong winds of Fani.
