Narayanpatna: The family members of incarcerated Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh( CMAS) members have been sitting on dharna for the last five days at Balipeta under the Narayanpatna block demanding immediate release of their relatives from different jails in Koraput and Malkangiri districts. The demonstrators have been eagerly waiting for the release of jailed CMAS members after the state governement announcement to expedite the bail process CMAS members lodged in jail to facilitate the freedom of Laxmpiur MLA Jhina Hikaka from the clutches of the rebels of ther CPI(Maoist).

Maoist leader Jagabandhu of the Andhra-Odisha-Border Special Zonal Committee(AOBSZC) in a letter had urged the two Maoist-named mediators, CMAS lawyer Nihar Patnaik and the wife of the abducted MLA, Koushalya, to come to Balipeta with the 30 released prisoners for the handing over of the tribal legislator on April 10, the deadline set by the Maoists for the release of the MLA. The family members of the jailed activists of the CMAS have been staging dharna since April 10.
