Jeypore: In a crackdown on adulteration units, the Jeypore police on Thursday night busted a fake spices manufacturing factory at P.R Petta lane in Jeypore town of Koraput district and detained one person.

According to sources, a team of Jeypore Town Police Station conducted a raid at the house of one Harihar Patra and seized huge cache of raw materials and duplicate spices of several brands and labels.

Similarly, the police have also seized machineries used for packaging the spices packets.

Police informed that the unit was manufacturing duplicate spices in the name of several popular brands. Meanwhile, police have detained one person in connection with the case and further probe into the incident is on.

“We raided the house of one Harihara Patra at P.R Petta lane in Jeypore town and seized several raw materials and duplicate spices of Everest brand,” Inspector In-Charge of Jeypore town police station, Baleswar Giddhi said.

Police further informed that the fake spices were transported to Jeypore from Berhampur.
