Bhubaneswar: The father of a Class X student of Kapileswar High School in Puri has filed a police complaint against the school authorities as his child was not allowed to appear in the annual HSC examinations which began today across Odisha.

As per the complaint lodged at Ramchandi police station, on February 15 Soumyaranjan along with his father Bamadeba Behera intimated the school principal that he's not received his admit card. While the headmaster reportedly assured that he would get his admit card in the next 24 hours, Soumyaranjan waited till today morning but to no avail. Unfortunately, he was deprived of the annual test.

Based on the allegations when police carried out an interrogation, the headmaster said that Soumyaranjan hasn't filled up the required form while on the other hand, the concerned teacher remained firm that the kid hasn't deposited the examination fees.

"When form filling process was underway, I had informed my father about depositing fees. Two other students were present when I was filling up the form. Now when I'm asking about my admit card, they are saying that I haven't filled up the form, neither have I deposited the exam fees," alleged Soumyaranjan.

"We had done all that was necessary for form fill up. On February 15 when the school teachers distributed admit cards, my son was the only student who was denied admit card. His dreams have shattered," said a teary-eyed Bamadeba.

Asked, School Principal Bipracharan Samantaray said, "Of the total 129 students, 11 students have not filled up the form. We had intimated all the students (verbally and not in written format) to complete the process before the deadline. But they didn't follow our orders."

In another such incident, Mantu Mallick, a student of Radhagobinda Bidyapeeth in Kendrapara, was allegedly asked by his school authorities to appear in the supplementary exams scheduled three months later, when he complained about non-receipt of admit card.
