Eye on 2019 polls: Kendrapara BJP workers upbeat for PM Modi’s visit
Bhubaneswar/Kendrapara: With elections round the corner and Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to visit Odisha on December 24, the party’s Kendrapara workers are all geared up to welcome the PM.
The Kendrapara unit of BJP on Friday held a meeting under the chairmanship of State BJP president Basant Panda at the party office in the district and discussed preparations of the party in order to make Modi’s visit to Odisha successful.
After the meeting, Panda said that the resignation of the senior leader from Kendrapara, Bijoy Mohapatra, will not have any impact on the BJP.
“The PM is scheduled to visit the State on December 24 and the State unit of the party is doing its best to include as many members as it can, right from the booth-level, in the programme. A meeting for the same was organised here at the district party headquarters,” said Panda.
PM Modi is likely to unveil projects worth Rs 14,523 crore during his visit to the State. An announcement in this regard was done by Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at a press conference in New Delhi on Friday.
Experts believe that Modi’s visit to Odisha carries a lot of importance following the BJP’s defeat in the recently-concluded assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Besides, the saffron party is not eyeing the north-east, including Odisha and West Bengal, to compensate the loss.
