Puri: As part of the ongoing repair work of Jagamohan of Shree Jagannath temple here, an expert team on Thursday examined the cracks that have appeared on the four pillars and the beams connecting them.

The expert team consisting of Assistant Professor of IIT Madras Arun Kumar Menon and superintendent of Archeological Survey of India (ASI), Delhi RS Jambuel examined the cracks by climbing onto the scaffolding surrounding the four pillars and beams of the Jagamohan.

After reviewing the cracks, the two experts said the stones, which have been weakened due to the cracks, will be replaced.

While replacing the stones due care will be taken to ensure that the architectural design of the 12th century shrine is not affected, the duo added.
