Exam reforms in Odisha: Matric Exam pattern to change from 2020-21

Cuttack: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha today announced major reforms in the conduct of the matriculation examination.

As per the decision, the examination pattern of matriculation examination will be changed and a new pattern will be implemented from 2020-21 session.

Confirming the development, BSE president Jahanara Begum informed that OMR sheet and multiple choice question pattern will be abolished from 2020-21. Instead, students will have to appear a 50-mark objective and another 50 marks subjective type questions in the examination.

For the 2019 matriculation examination, some changes in question pattern and minimum pass marks have also been made. The students will have to keep a minimum of 15 marks for each subjective and objective subjects to pass the exam.

Begum further informed that four sets of question paper will be introduced instead of three sets. All the sets will be different from each other while the questions will be similar. This has been done to test the reasoning and decision making ability of the students.

“The class IX students will appear the examination as per the new examination pattern that will be introduced in 2020. Though the students will appear the examination ( 50 percent objective and 50 percent subjective type), there will be no OMR sheet or multiple choice questions,” Begum added.
