Ex Rourkela councillor had links with D-brothers: Police

Cuttack: Former Councillor of Rourkela Ashesa Mohanty alias Bulu, who has been detained by the Commissionerate Police, today revealed his relationship with Dhalasamant brothers during interrogation at Chauliagnaj police station here, police sources said.

Mohanty said he had come in contact with Sushant Dhalasamant when both were lodged in Rourkela jail in different criminal cases. Later, he was introduced to Shusil, who assisted the former councillor to acquire a tender from Rural Development department, police said today after interrogation.

A notice was issued to Mohanty on March 4 asking him to appear before Chauliaganj police within seven days. The commissionerate police had asked him to appear for questioning over his alleged links with Dhalasamant brothers.

Mohanty had told media persons yesterday that the notice issued by police mentioned that he had links with the D-brothers. “ I came to the police station to clarify that such things never existed,” he had said.

Sources said the Commissionerate Police has come to know Mohanty has had business deals with the D-brothers for many years. Therefore, his involvement in the criminal activities of the D-brothers is suspected, the source added.
