Ex-BJP MP’s son joins BJD

Bhubaneswar: The son of former Kalahandi MP Bikram Keshari Deo formally joined Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Sunday. The ex-parliamentarian's son, Arka Keshari, met the party president with a number of supporters at Naveen Niwas here.

The ruling party is hopeful of strengthening the party base in Nuapada and Kalahandi districts with the young leader.

"I am very glad that Sri Arka Keshari Deo, son of late Bikram Keshari Deo, the ex-MP of Kalahandi, has joined our party today with a number of leaders from Kalahandi and Nuapada districts. This will be a great asset to the Biju Janata Dal in both the districts of Kalahandi and Nuapada," BJD president Naveen Patnaik said.

The young leader from the tribal dominated district said he will work for a better performance of the party during the ensuing polls. "I am very happy as I joined BJD today. My father had worked with Naveen Patnaik for many years. I will work hard for the party which will lead winning more seats in both Nuapada and Kalahandi districts," Deo said.

A seasoned politician of western Odisha, Arka's father Bikram Keshari, had been elected to the parliament thrice from BJP ticket. He was also the MLA of Junagarh twice.
