Bhubaneswar/Bolangir: It seems as if controversies are in no mood to leave this year’s matric examination and the board officials as well. No sooner issues on matric question paper theft ended another issue came knocking the door of the board officials. OTV crew on Wednesday reached at a government girls’ school in Bolangir district to find teachers evaluating matriculation answer sheets with the help of candles.

What we saw profusely sweating and visibly tired teachers were struggling hard with blinkering candle lights to evaluate the papers. The pressure to read the sheets in hardly visible light was clearly noticeable in the face of the bespectacled few. The sign of disgust was never there though. Sometimes mobile phones and emergency lights were coming to their rescue for the hard task given to them to complete in a stipulated time.

Due to load-shedding, the teachers were left in lurch. Worried over the deadline they had no option but to evaluate answer sheets under such circumstances to meet the deadlines.

It was already 4 pm, and the commencement of evaluation process was yet to begin. One more power cut after few hours of evaluation led teachers to wait for another hour. A stage came when their profession over-powered anything and everything at least for that  moment. The teachers began evaluating the answer sheets again by 6:30 pm which continued till 10 pm. Hats off to the teachers!
