An emotional and heart-rending scene unfolded at the Puri Srimandir on Sunday, as a helpless father was seen standing near ‘Patitapaban’, cradling his ailing son in his arms and tearfully pleading before Lord Jagannath for the child’s recovery.
Eyewitnesses described the moment as profoundly moving, a father, overcome with grief and faith, crying and praying fervently for divine mercy. The man’s identity remains unknown, but his distress and devotion left hundreds of bystanders deeply touched.
According to temple servitors, the father had brought his son directly from the hospital, where the boy was under treatment and still connected to oxygen and saline.

“The father carried his son throughout the Singhadwara of Srimandir, crying loudly and begging the Lord to save his child,” said Soumya Ranjan Panda, a temple servitor.
Witnessing his agony, some sevayats advised the man to go closer to the sanctum to offer his prayers directly. As he stood near Patitapaban, holding his child with folded hands, many devotees and temple staff silently joined in prayer.
In a moment that many described as miraculous, the ailing boy reportedly moved his head when brought near the sacred idol, a sight that filled onlookers with awe and emotion. The poignant episode became a powerful reminder of a father’s love, faith, and the enduring hope that draws millions to Lord Jagannath’s divine presence.
