Rayagada: Irregularities in allocation of funds for housing scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) have been alleged in Borikhal village under Bissamcuttack block in Rayagada district.

As per reports, the district administration had issued a work order in the name of one Rajendra Hiala, but PMAY funds were handed over to another resident of the village.

Other official documents also mentioned Rajendra as beneficiary of the PMAY housing scheme. Though in Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) data, Rajendra's name has been enlisted, he was deprived of the benefits under the central housing scheme.

After Rajendra came to know about the irregularities, he filed a complaint before the Block Development Officer following which the Rayagada Additional Project Administrator and the Additional Block Development Officer undertook a spot visit and inquire the matter.

Complainant Rajendra stated, "I lodged a complaint with the BDO when I came to know that my PMAY house has been allotted to another person."

In his reaction, Balaram Patra, ABDO, Bissamcuttack block, said, "The house was supposed to be allotted to Rajendra Hiala. However, another person Kartika Hiala has received the benefit under PMAY. An inquiry has found out that Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) Ramkanta Sahukar took bribe from Kartika and allotted the house in his name."
