Eleven mining leaseholders appear before Keonjhar Collector’s Court
Keonjhar: Eleven mining leaseholders appeared before the Keonjhar collector’s court today for not depositing penalties as per the directive of the Supreme Court.
According to sources, 23 leaseholders of 31 mines were issued notices by the court for Rs 6,350 crore penalty as per the directions of the Supreme Court. Based on the above notice, a certificate case was filed at the collector’s court seeking confiscation of property of these mining companies in case of default.
While 14 lease holders were issued notices to appear today, only 11 of them appeared before the court, informed sources.
However, the hearing could not be conducted due to the absence of the collector. The next hearing is scheduled on November 17.
