Elephant dies after being hit by train

Dhenkanal: A wild tusker died after being hit by a train in Odisha`s Dhenkanal district today. The elephant, aged around 40 years, was found dead near the railway track at Kuruntangar between Rajathgarh and Joranda stations, about 12 km from here.

The tusks were intact, officials said adding Sunil Kumar Dalai, Divisional Forest Officer, visited the accident spot. It appeared that the elephant had moved onto the track from the nearby forest, they said.
