According to sources, after being alerted by villagers, forest department personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Following hours of sustained effort, the calf was safely pulled out of the water. Officials later reunited the young elephant with its mother, bringing relief to forest staff and local residents.

An 11-member elephant herd, including the calf, had been moving through several villages under Chasagurujang and Pabitrapur panchayats for the past few days, causing extensive damage to crops and property. While crossing the river from Pabitrapur village side, the calf strayed into a fishing net laid in the water and got trapped.
