Elections 2019: Training programme organised for district Collectors
Bhubaneswar: A two-day training programme on conduct of elections was organised for the district Collectors of Odisha at Gopabandhu Academy in Bhubaneswar today. The training programme is a part of the preparations for the upcoming general elections in the State.
According to sources, the programme will impart training on various election-related work & processes including preparation of final voter list, arrangements at the voting centres, identification of sensitive booths, deployment of security forces, enforcement of model code of conduct, operation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) & Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines, promotion on social media and smooth and impartial conduct of elections.
The district Collectors will be assessed through an examination at the end of the training programme, sources said.
Deputy Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha, Satrughna Kar said “As per the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI), we are conducting a certification programme of the Returning Officers and District Election Officers. The programme will assess their preparedness on all relevant rules and regulations ahead of the upcoming elections.”
Cuttack district Collector, Aravind Agrawal said “The training programme will guide us and enhance our knowledge on election processes, guidelines and management. There are a vast number of issues and this programme will help us know them in a nutshell.”
