Bhubaneswar: Following the directive of the Election Commission of India ahead of the general elections, the Chief Electoral Officer on Wednesday directed to hold special campaigns on February 23 and 24 for the enrolment of voters who have been left out in the electoral list.

“Continuous updation of Electoral Rolls- Special Campaign Day on February 23 and 24 for enrolment of left out electors,” read the letter issued by Chief Electoral Officer-cum-Joint Secretary to Government.

In the letter, he has also urged the director of I&PR department to circulate the information to general public through the print and electronic media.

The campaign will be held in all the polling booths across the country. The booth-level officers will be present in the polling stations to explain various issues of the voters, reports said.

If a person has voter card but his/her name is not enrolled in the electoral roll, then s/he will not be able to cast vote this year. However, those left-out voters can apply for the same in their respective polling stations.
