Bhubaneswar: While the BJD and the BJP are already in a race to outperform each other with the ruling-BJD announcing a slew of schemes and the saffron party lining up its star campaigners Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for the 2019 polls, Odisha Congress today jumped into the race by announcing AICC president Rahul Gandhi's visit to the State.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Niranjan Patnaik, during his New Delhi tour, on Monday, informed that the party's national chief agreed to his request to visit Odisha and address a workers' and a public meeting during his visit to the State.

"Rahul Gandhi will visit Odisha on January 25. A workers' meeting will be organised in Bhubaneswar while a public meeting will be held in a coastal district. We will soon decided the venue of the public meeting," said Patnaik.

Patnaik further tweeted: "Discussed the roadmap and poll strategy for Odisha and assured him (Rahul Gandhi) of a solid comeback of Congress in our State."
