Puri: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today alleged that Brahmagiri MLA Sanjay Das Burma violated the model code of conduct by landing helicopter at Rebana Nuagaon Kerandia helipad in Puri district by obtaining 'verbal permission'.

According to BJP leader Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, the Brahmagiri MLA landed his chopper at around 5.15 pm at the Rebana Nuagaon Kerandia helipad. While permission for landing helicopter is required around 72 hours in advance, the MLA landed his chopper within 24 hours by obtaining verbal permission," he said.

"Plans of helicopter landing should be put up 72 hours in advance while the returning officer needs to approve it 48 hours ahead of schedule before being approved by the administration. Then, how did the MLA get the permission within 24 hours. If necessary, we will take up the matter with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC)," said Mohapatra.

However, the Puri District Electoral Officer, Srimanta Kar said: "The MLA had taken prior permission before landing the helicopter and all the records are available with us."
