Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECoR) has bagged the prestigious Traffic Transportation Shield for outstanding performance in loading and transportation by the Ministry of Railways for the year 2011-12. Minister for Railways Mukul Roy presented the Traffic Transportation Shield to ECoR General Manager Indra Ghosh at a function held at New Delhi on occasion of 57th Railway Week, ECoR sources said today.

ECoR recorded an impressive performance during 2011-12 in freight operations and added a glorious chapter by achieving record revenue loading of 120.77 MT against 108.99 MT in 2010-11 registering an increase of 10.8 per cent over previous year and 0.27 MT more than the target, they said.

The originating freight earnings of ECoR increased from Rs 7234.64 Crore in 2010-11 to Rs 8079.08 Crores in 2011-12 by registering a growth of 11.67 per cent. More importantly, the incremental loading of East Coast Railway is the highest in Indian Railways, the sources said adding ECoR is the only major zonal railway which has achieved the loading target in last fiscal.
