Speaking to the media, the Patkura MLA said he is facing different accusations at different times, ranging from anti-party activities and irregularities in mid-day meal operations to corruption, betrayal, and alleged efforts to defeat a parliamentary candidate and harass residents of Patkura.

Mohapatra remarked sarcastically whether any of these allegations are actually true or if the list will continue to grow. The legislator said he wants to know who is supplying such information. He recalled that during a recent meeting, BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik had enquired about his father’s well-being, adding that if he had committed any wrongdoing, it could have been pointed out at that time.

The legislator demanded an open public debate on allegations related to misuse of MLA funds, stating that if he has made any mistakes, critics should confront him openly before the media. He denied the claims of sabotaging a parliamentary candidate, citing familial ties with the candidate, and questioned who was responsible for low votes in Mahakalpada and the defeat of several other candidates during the 2024 General Elections.

The MLA further stated that his joining the BJD was based on Patkura residents’ opinions and denied all allegations, calling them false and politically motivated. He also questioned why no ‘show-cause notice’ was then issued and suggested a possible conspiracy due to repeatedly changing accusations.

“I am not yet sure whether I should meet him (Naveen Patnaik) or not. The (BJD) president himself has already told (about the reason behind suspension). However, I do not agree with what he said(recently given),” the suspended leader said.

“Initially, I had wanted to know the reason behind my suspension and accusations against me. Now, in fact, I want to know who is feeding him this data (charges levelled against Mohapatra). The charges are changing every now and then. Those could have been framed together and told at a time,” the Patkura MLA added.
