Angul: Workers of the BJD in Chhendipada Assembly constituency have openly revolted against party MLA Susant Behera alleging lackadaisical attitude of the leader towards the development of the area.

The rift in the party unit came to fore after hundreds of workers and leaders protested against the MLA during a public rally in Badasinghar panchayat blaming him for not carying out development in the area.

The party activists said that the MLA has not fulfilled his promises regarding several developmental works. They further stated even as locals have been deprived of government schemes, Behera had never helped them despite knowing about it.

“The MLA had promised that if he wins, he would get us a new panchayat building at Badasinghar but he failed to keep his promises. Even after repeated appeals by party workers, he has never met us during last five years,” said BJD leader Sanjukta Sahu.

However, MLA Behera refuted the allegations levelled by the party workers and clarified that some other party leaders who are aspiring for the upcoming elections are intentionally trying to create a rift in the party.
