Bhubaneswar: Dhamara port in Bhadrak district of Odihsa has chalked out plans for its second phase expansion work with an estimated cost of Rs 10,000 crore. The port which aims to start the construction work within two years, expects to complete in five years. This was informed by port CEO Santosh Mohapatra after a meeting with Chief Secreatry B K Patnaik.
 
“The port’s cargo throughput, after full scale expansion, will be increased to 100 million tonne per annum (MTPA) from current 25 MTPA” Mohapatra said. 
 
The expansion work, being taken up at a cost of Rs 10,000 crore will also facilitate the port with 11 more berths. Currently the port has two berths.
 
“After completion of the proposed expansion, the port will be able to handle container cargo, liquid cargo, LNG (liquefied natural gas) and crude oil”, said Mohapatra.
  
According to the official, the environmental clearance is in advanced stage.
