Bhubaneswar: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Prakash Mishra and Chief Secretary BK Patnaik will attend a meeting tomorrow in New Delhi convened by Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. According to official sources, DGPs and Chief Secretaries of all states would attend the meeting in which security mechanism for women would be reviewed.

“Union Home Minister has called a review meeting tomorrow in which trial of rape cases in fast track courts will be discussed, apart from other safety measures for women,” said Odisha Chief Secretary BK Patnaik.

Union Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath is also scheduled to attend the meeting.

The Friday summit draws significance as it is the first meeting of all state top cops and chief secretaries after the New Delhi gangrape incident of a 23-yr-old paramedical student that drew nationwide uproar and hue and cry.

On December 29, the victim breathed her last at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital after fighting a heroic battle for 13 days.
