DGGI conducts raids on Odisha businessman's residence

Officials of the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) conducted simultaneous raids on the residence and business establishments of businessman Sunil Agrawal in Angul on Tuesday.

According to sources, the GST raid has been underway since this morning. A 12-member DGGI team is conducting simultaneous searches at Agrawal’s house as well as his commercial premises.

The action has reportedly been initiated following allegations of large-scale Goods and Services Tax (GST) evasion. Officials are examining financial records, transaction details, and other relevant documents as part of the investigation.

The raid has been continuing for over eight hours, with DGGI officials still present at both the residential and business locations. 

Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses. DGGI officials are yet to give any comments about the development as the raid is currently underway.

It is suspected that there has been large-scale GST evasion. The DGGI team has reportedly seized several important documents during the raid.

Earlier in November last year, DGGI officials had interrogated Mumbai-based chartered accountant Nilesh Yogesh Jigiowala at the high-security Jharpada Jail in Bhubaneswar, following his arrest in an alleged GST fraud of nearly Rs 325 crore.
