The holy town of Puri has come alive with devotion as thousands of Havisyalis, women devotees observing the sacred Kartik Brata, have begun their month-long ritual in reverence to Lord Radhadamodar.
The spiritual atmosphere around the Jagannath Temple resonates with chants, bhajans, and rituals, creating a serene yet vibrant ambience.
According to official sources, around 2,500 Havisyalis from various districts of Odisha are staying in different camps in Puri to perform the traditional observance.
The arrangements include accommodation, Mahaprasad meals, temple visits, evening bhajan sessions, and religious discourses, all organised under the supervision of the district administration and temple authorities.
To support the initiative, the State government has sanctioned Rs 3.3 crore under the Havisyali Yojana. Additionally, another Rs 70 lakh has been allocated this year to further improve facilities for the devotees, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the holy month.
