The clarification was given by Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Arabinda Padhee.

He said that rooms at Bhakta Nivas are being provided to pilgrims at affordable rates. Many devotees visiting from outside do not arrive in four-wheelers. However, those who bring four-wheeled vehicles will have to pay a parking fee of Rs 500 per day.

He further clarified that outsiders will not be allowed to park their vehicles within the Bhakta Nivas premises. Pilgrims can park their vehicles at other designated parking facilities by paying Rs 240.

Therefore, devotees who wish to stay at Bhakta Nivas may choose to park their vehicles at other parking locations and still avail accommodation at Bhakta Nivas, the Chief Administrator informed.

"After analysing the situation, it was found that only five to ten vehicles are parked at Bhakta Nivas on a daily basis, and most devotees staying there do not arrive in four-wheelers. Increasing the room rent would therefore affect common devotees, and that is why there is no proposal to raise the accommodation charges. Devotees who come to Bhakta Nivas with four-wheelers can afford to pay Rs 500 as a parking fee. However, if they wish to save Rs 250, they have the option of parking their vehicles at JBPC and staying at Bhakta Nivas," said SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee.
