Rourkela: A detained home-guard was declared brought dead when he was taken to Rourkela Government Hospital early on Tuesday morning by police personnel of sector-15 police station of the city.
Police said Gurmeet Singh (45) was detained overnight at the police station on a complaint filed by one Mamata Nayak alleging that the home-guard had assaulted her grand-daughter.
Gurmeet who reported at the police station as per instruction by IIC sector-15 police station denied the allegation levelled against him.
He was detained when a formal case was registered against him in connection with the alleged assault of the girl
Police claimed Gurmeet got up early in the morning and went out of the police station premises to wash his face and suddenly collapsed due to chest pain.
He was immediately rushed to Rourkela Government Hospital where doctor declared him brought dead. The body was sent for postmortem.
